Patrick Pfändler successfully completed his Bachelor and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from ETH Zurich. His specialization during his Master was Structural Engineering and Material and Mechanics. In his MSc thesis, he studied the use of steel fibres in concrete elements made by digital fabrication.

He joined the group of Durability of Engineering Materials at the Institute for Building Materials in August 2017. He is currently pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ueli Angst. He is working on further development in assessing the corrosion condition of reinforced concrete infrastructures with robots and flying drones. His research topic continues the previous work on the Climbing Corrosion Detecting Device (C2D2) robot developed at ETH.
